Canterbury Woods PTA

Message from the PTA President

September 5, 2011

Dear Cougar Parents,

I hope you all had a wonderful summer.   If you are like me, summer flew by and it’s hard to believe a new school year is upon us.   My name is Susan Betts and I will be the Canterbury Woods Elementary School PTA President for the 2011-2012 school year.  I have a 3rd grader, Brigitta and a rising 1st grader, Bethany.  I was Vice President/President Elect last year.

The 2010-2011 PTA board would like all our parents to know that we value and appreciate each and every one of you and all you do for our school.  The PTA has three goals this year: communication, accountability and involvement.

The PTA is committed to increasing our communications with our parents. CWES is making the commitment to go paperless this year so our communications with our parents, teachers and staff will be mostly electronic. Please make sure to read the weekly THT emails, sent out by Linda Szabo. We will also increase our use of posters and phone calls as well as posting all information on our CWES website and utilizing other web-based tools.

The PTA will also make an increased effort to be accountable to our members. We realize that every dollar or hour of time you commit to CWES PTA should be accounted for. We will update our membership on the funds we spend on a quarterly basis. We will also make an increased effort to acknowledge all our wonderful volunteers who have committed their time to our PTA programs.

Lastly, the PTA would like to get all parents involved with the PTA. We realize everyone is busy and many of you are working during the day. But, please consider volunteering and hour or two to the PTA throughout the year. There are many opportunities to get involved, many which are during non-school hours. All our committees would welcome your help, whether it’s an hour or an on-going basis. As a good friend of mine recently said, “Your kids are young only once. You can’t go back and re-do this time. Get involved while you still can.” It’s so true, our kids grow-up in the blink of an eye. Make every moment count.

The  PTA wants to make Canterbury Woods the best it can be for every child by offering valuable and informative programs, thrown in with some fun stuff.  We have some new things planned this year along with some oldies but goodies returning.

We look forward to working with the parents, children, teachers, staff and principals at Canterbury Woods this year.    Have a great year!

                                                                                                                              Sincerely,
                                                                                                                              Susan Betts, CWES, PTA President
