Committees
The Canterbury Woods PTA Committees are filled with volunteers that make it the success that it is. We would welcome any assistance in any of the committees.

| Art Gallery | Frames and displayes art work in the hallway. Once art is framed it is available for purcahase. |
| Audit Committee | Audit PTA Budget |
| Beautification | Assists with upkeep of school grounds. Plant various gardens around the school (sunflower and butterfly garden). |
| Box Top for Education | Box Tops are little pink coupons, which are located on a number of products. For every box top you and your family save, CWES will directly receive 10 cents |
| Bonus Cards | Bonus cards used when shopping at Giant, Safeway and/or Harris Teeter. When parents designate our school on their bonus card, our school receives money from each purchase made at the store, at no extra cost to the customer. bonus cards have to be designated or 're-registered' every ear to remain 'activated'. |

| Chess Club | Chess club held on Fridays from 5:30-6:45pm in the school cafeteria. Open to students in grade 2-6 in the fall and spring for a reasonable fee. |
| Cougar Card | Discount card for various merchants in the area. |
| Cougar Spirit Wear | School spirit wear items that will be available for the students/family to purchase. It also involves creating the order form as well as handlin all the orders and the deliveries. |
| Cougar Crawl | Fall community based event, picnic, dj and fun! |
| Cultural Arts | Plans various assemblies and programs throughout the school year. |
| Fall Fun Fair | A community based fair for kids of all ages. |
| FLEX Program | Coordinate the Foreign Language Program with the teachers and interested students for a 20 week program. |
| Flu Buster Committee | We are looking for someone, preferably an RN, who can organize and help administer flu shots at the Fun Fair. |
| FCCPTA and SPAC (superintendant's parent advisory council) | SPAC Rep. - attend regular meetings, to represent the interests of CWES parents and communicate relevant information to the CWES PTA. FCCPTA Re. - The role of this position is to attend their regular meetings (twice a year) to represent the interest of CWES and to comunicate information between FCCPTA and the CWES PTA. |
| GRACE Arts | GRACE Arts is a parent run and PTA funded program intended to complement the existing art curriculum. It was developed by the Greater reston Arts Center to introduce students to major artists and styles and allow them to create their own projects based on what they have learned. |
| Hospitality | Coordinates various events throughout the year. |
| Library Volunteer | Seeks out and organizes parent volunteers to assist in the library with shelving, checkout, book fairs and/or special projects. |
| Membership Chair | Responsible for promoting membership, collecting the dues and reporting the information to the PTA. |
| Odyssey of the Mind | Teams of students are formed and select a problem to solve. They work on the problem from Fall until mid-March (the competition). |

| Reflections Arts program | Reflections is a National PTA program that gives students the opportunity to express themselves through the arts and to be recognized for their artistic talents. Students submit original entries to reflect the year's Reflections theme in any of the following 6 arts categories: Visual Arts, Photography, Literature, Film Production, Musical Composition, and Dance Choreography. |
| Room Parent Coordinator | Point of contact between PTA and room parents. Help orient room parents to their job, facilitate communication among room parents and coordinate room parent involvement in school wide activities. |
| Special Education Committee | This committee is for parents of children with special needs at CWES. We meet once a month to connect, share, and learn from one another. |
| Volunteer Committee | Coordinates volunteers for school sponsored events, like Vision Screening, etc. |
| Woodson Representative | Shares information with CWES about developments that affect the Woodson Pyramid. |
