Canterbury Woods Advanced Academics (AA) Parent Information
Canterbury Woods offers full-time Advanced Academic services (Level IV) to students who have been found eligible for placement through a central selection process. Advanced Academic students receive a highly challenging instructional program in the four core subject areas.
The Level IV program is designed to meet the needs of advanced learners with a strong emphasis on higher level thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making. Students have ongoing opportunities for reflection and self-assessment that develop an understanding of the characteristics, demands, and responsibilities of advanced intellectual development. Students are tested in the fall of second grade for possible placement in the AA Center for grades 3-6.

An Exciting Math Competition
The AA Center participates in an exciting National/Regional competition called Continental Mathematics League. Students in grade 3 will be participating in 3 meets, and students in grades 4-6 will participate in 5 meets. Team scores are determined by the top 6 individuals. Questions are written at an above-average reading comprehension. We will be participating in the Pythagorean division. Below is an example of a 5th grade meet.
