Fairfax County is projecting a budget deficit of more than $400 million for FY 2010 (beginning July 2009), which must be addressed through a combination of spending restrictions and other strategies. The county is working “to develop a budget with an appropriate level of services that are both sustainable and acceptable to the community.”

To this end, the county government and FCPS hosted a series of “community dialogue sessions” in fall 2008 to gather public comments, “a key factor to help guide the development of criteria for making budget decisions.”

Although the County budget "discussion sessions" ended November 13, residents can still weigh in by offering comments online at http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/government/budget/ or by e-mailing your ideas to tips@fcps.edu or to the School Board (see http://www.fcps.edu/schlbd/members.htm).
