Cougar Crumbs

When was the first Cougar Crawl?

The Cougar Crawl originated 10 years ago as a way to connect the school with the community and was so special that first year because it was on the heels of 9/11. Off duty police were hired and it became a celebration of the entire community, not just CWES. Red, white and blue balloons and community leaders were there to kick off the event.

CWES Author Showcase week a success!

Stages of the renovation!

A note from Mrs. Messinger, Principal

Dear CWES Parents and Guardians,

I would like to thank our PTA for providing funding to have two wonderful authors at our school last week. Both Ginjer Clarke and Lawrence Pringle enjoyed speaking to our students.

Thanks to the parents that shared their craft with our students – Stephanie Melson, Kathy Chappell, Troy Benesch, Karen Laping, and Dana Cibulski. The feedback from the students and teachers was very positive. We really appreciate parents taking time from their busy schedules to share the work they do with our students. Their presentations helped students to see that writing and illustrating is broader than book production and that there are many avenues to explore.

Thank you to the parents that joined us on Wednesday when grade level students shared their writing with parents. We hope you were impressed with some of the great pieces of writing our students have produced this year.

We also had our CETA (Changing Education Through the Arts) Showcase last Thursday night. We had approximately 230 students and parents attend the evening sessions. Below is the website to view some of the pictures taken by a photographer from the Annandale Patch of the Author’s and CETA Showcases. Also, I have given below the results of our exit tickets from the CETA Showcase Night. It was clear from the high level of engagement, activity, and laughter that learning and fun was had by all!

Warm Regards,

Barb
